MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, mid 2015) Firmware Update

Today Apple released a firmware update to all 15-inch, mid 2015 MacBook Pros. This update comes as there were some reports of data corruption occurrences in some rare cases.  We all know that data corruption on any level can be catastrophic so it is highly recommended that you head out and grab this update as soon as possible. You can get access to this update though Apple's App Store:

Before you begin this update, make sure you make a backup of your system before you execute (Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, etc.) this firmware. Apple even reminds you to do this during the update process:

In the mean time, I thought it would be fun to see if there was a difference in read and write speeds of the storage on my system. I was pleasantly surprised!

You can see there is an improvement in write speeds of about 200MB/s! This is awesome results and it's crazy the improvement that is realized with a simple firmware update.
